Monkeys, Bad and Musical

The new Richard Thompson album, about which I posted yesterday, includes a track called “Bad Monkey.” Ape Lad’s monkey series includes a guitar hero monkey. OK, so the monkey is called Spencer, might not be bad, and, unlike RT, is left-pawed. But I thought it worth remarking on, and it’s my blog.
My early favorite track on the album is “Francesca,” perhaps due to the novelty value of its being the most reggae-ish thing RT’s ever recorded. My favorite Ape Lad monkey so far is Sensei Saru, Master of the Monkey Jump.
