Automattic’s Gain, TextPattern’s ?

Automattic, Matt reveals, has another new employee: Alex Shiels. Alex is prominent in the TextPattern community. In news that may well be related, Team Textpattern reports a change of focus, details of which will be available soon.
I don’t know much about TextPattern, other than that it is:
- A free, flexible, elegant, easy-to-use content management system for all kinds of websites, even weblogs, according to its home page.
- Thanked for “ideas and inspiration” on the WordPress About page.
- One of the blogging tools I never got round to trying out.

You should definitely get around to trying it out. I’ve been using it after trying WordPress and MT, and never had a doubt.
