San Bernardino: The Goat 66 Post

A couple of things prompt this post. A friend of mine from England is driving westward along route 66. He called me this morning, from around the AZ/CA border. Hence he’ll be in San Bernardino soon.
The other prompt is that the second track on the new Mountain Goats album, Heretic Pride , is called “San Bernardino.”
The album has several things in common with my favorite album of 2007. Male singer/songwriter/guitarist who records under the name of a band, often classifed as lo-fi, makes album with more instruments and fuller sound. “San Bernardino” features John Darnielle backed by strings, of all things. Goat on.
