Strange Maps: A Million Hits

Strange Maps is, like this blog, hosted at WordPress.com. I’d like to congratulate my neighbour on Strange Maps’ one millionth hit. There are a bunch of new posts to celebrate the milestone.

My favorite of the new posts is the one about the splendidly-named Inglehart-Welzel Cultural Map of the World. It’s not what you’d normally think of as a map, since countries are located by cultural values rather than by geography.

A more conventional map is the one that maps Tolkien’s Middle-Earth on to Europe. The Shire is in England, and Mordor in Transylvania; that sounds plausible to me.

Here’s to another million hits for Strange Maps. How do you say that in Elvish?
