Post title of the month, perhaps the year, so far is Guy Kawasaki’s By the Numbers: How I built a Web 2.0, User-Generated Content, Citizen Journalism, Long-Tail, Social Media Site for $12,107.09. Here are some of the numbers he provides:
- Number of business plans = numbers of VCs involved = zero.
- Legal costs > software development costs, with the latter being $4,500.
- 3 hours went by before the site was hacked.
- Guy learned 4 lessons.
There is at least one misleading statement in the post: the one that refers to “open source and Word Press.” WordPress is open source/free software, having been under the GPL since (indeed, before) birth. I wish that Glyn had pointed this out when he used the quote, but I thank him for drawing my attention to Guy’s interesting post.
