InviteCrunch

TechCrunch has acquired InviteShare, reports Michael Arrington. InviteShare is a clearing house for invites to private beta tests. I used it last week, and disliked the implementation of the idea almost as much as I liked the idea itself.

I hope that InviteShare will be crunched into something as usable as it is useful. Comments at TC reveal that the price was $25,000. That’s not bad for something that probably didn’t take much time or coding.

This episode provides a lesson in one of the things you can do when you have an idea that’s good, but that you know will occur to others. Build it quickly, get it noticed, sell it. In this context, usability testing might have been a waste of time: the target audience is a lot more technically sophisticated than the things they can do at the site.
