I’ve been looking forward to a couple of this week’s new album releases: Rilo Kiley’s Under the Blacklight, and The New Pornographers’ Challengers. I’ve yet to get in to the former. My difficulties started with the lead track, “The Moneymaker,” despite its starting off sounding like the theme from The Muppet Show as played by Tom Verlaine.
I had some initial difficulty with Challengers also. But once I started listening to the songs, rather than listening for Neko Case, I started to like it a lot. Here’s the band on Letterman (with Neko singing backup rather than lead), doing the lead/opening track.
